Welcome to my Blog

Welcome

So this is my first blog and not really all that sure how to start so... sweet pics of my Hive Tyrant pow! These are the unfinished pics I have his other two arms (Bone Sword and Lash Whip) already painted and on. I'll update with those shortly. So basicly I love Nids but have never liked the common paint jobs done by GW to me overly bright and too much white. So I picked Green and Black for the most part. Why because it sounded good. Sooo on to what I did over all. Primed Black by hand cuz that is how I roll and like to do most of my HQs and ICs even if it is a MC. I feel I can give it a clean under coat over spay or even air brushing tho it takes about an hour. So decided to go with a lighter shade and a darker green with a bit of black with as little whites as I felt I could pull off. Then added some red for eyes and the crazy vains on the back of the head.

So basic I used the lighter of the greens for soft flesh bits like the back of the head, joints, around areas I was going to use white, and the area around the head. As you can see (Pic to the right) I used a light wash of camo shade to darken some of the areas and keep transtions from light to dark green clean. The dark green made up most of the areas and added black around armored areas to give a tiger striping to the model (Free Handed). I didn't want the stripes to be overly uniform so some "mistakes" have been left uncorrected to give it a more uneven and IMO realist look. All the pointy bits used for killing I layed White then Off White and while it was just about dry blended with camo shade to give it a dirty almost tarnished look. The one thing I did see after putting together some of this was I missed a few minor Mold lines and could have used some green stuff to fill a few small gaps on the back "pipes". Over all I like the look and feel of it. Great model over all and probly the most fun putting and painting anything together I have had in a long time.

The Base was basic, a Brown under coat followed by glue and dirt flock to give a lifeless look. Pretty much Nids already are eating the world your on and you have little to no hope left of winning. With an out crop of rock and am looking for some skulls or SM helms to add.

Have to remind myself to add the pics with Bone Sword and Lash Whip up soon as I feel they look great. Till then enjoy and I welcome all C&C.
PS I just ordered a Tervigon and some Grunts so expect them to be posted as WIP soon too.
